Day 1

Karatu

Staying at Gibb’s Farm

Arrive at Kilimanjaro airport and meet with our local safari guide. You will have a private safari vehicle with an open top, to allow for the best game viewing experience. Travel to nearby Karatu (about 2.5 hours drive), depending on your arrival time you might require a pre-night in Arusha.

Located on the outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater lies Gibb’s Farm. Founded in the 1920s as a coffee plantation, this wonderful property is the ideal base for visiting the surrounding area, and embrace the East African hospitality, the land and heritage. The large gardens are perfect for stretching your legs after a day of game viewing, listening to the birds and enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

Arrive at Gibb's on time for lunch and experience a walk to the elephant cave in the afternoon. Leave on-foot directly from your cottage on this two-hour walking safari through the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Discover towering waterfalls and the incredible “elephant caves”, created by elephants digging through dense rock with their tusks to ingest the vitamin-rich soil. Back at the lodge on time for the sunset, dinner and night.

Day 2

Lake Manyara - Karatu

Staying at Gibb’s Farm

After breakfast, transfer to nearby Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. This safari paradise offers dense bush, open plains, a vast lake, and natural watering holes – all a safe haven for a rich array of wildlife.

You will get the chance to encounter large troops of baboons, many birds and maybe some of the resident lions, known to spend a lot of times in the trees. Enjoy a picnic style lunch and exit the park. On the way back, stretch your legs with a Treetop experience that will take you on a sky-high adventure through the beautiful forest. Walk among the treetops and experience untouched nature and wildlife from a unique perspective. This 370m airwalk starts with a short board-walk that gradually rises from ground level up through the canopy of the forest. You walk over a series of suspension bridges with thick netting on the sides, and reach a height of 18m off the ground. Each of the bridges end on a viewing deck situated around tree trunks. These treetop platforms are perfect places to stop and enjoy life in the canopy amongst butterflies, monkeys and birds.

Back at Gibb's by late afternoon and spend some time at leisure before dinner and night.

Day 3

Ngorongoro - Karatu

Staying at Gibb’s Farm

Early wake up call and depart for your game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. You will have a packed breakfast to enjoy en-route as your guide drives up though the wonderful Ngorongoro Highlands and a picnic style lunch to enjoy on the crater floor.

Today is all about the animals as the vast, volcanic Ngorongoro Crater is home to the “big 5” (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino). A gradual descent into the Ngorongoro Crater through a lush highland forest, provides countless opportunities to spot magnificent birdlife among various tree species. Once on the grassy crater floor, you may encounter a wide range of grazing herbivores, as well as predators drawn to the plentiful supply of prey.

After lunch, exit the Crater and return to Gibb's where you can relax before dinner and night.

Day 4-6

Northern Serengeti

Staying at Serian’s Serengeti Lamai

Breakfast and transfer to the airstrip; it is time to say goodbye to your guide and fly to the Serengeti.

On arrival at Lamai airstrip, meet with your tour guide and transfer to camp via a meandering drive. Your 3 night stay is totally customized as per what you wish to experience. Your guide will drive you to the best possible area to encounter the game, and will take you walking away from the vehicles. And if you travel during August-October, you will have a good chance to view the Great Migration and maybe some river crossings, that typically happen in this area at this time of the year (weather and nature dependent).

The open plains of the Lamai Wedge are incredibly beautiful and abundant in game. The landscape is reminiscent of scenes from Out of Africa, and there is plenty of freedom to roam and explore. The camp is situated opposite Crossing Point 4, midway among all crossing points along the river – and is perfectly positioned to spectate the wildebeest river crossings in season. Away from the river, this area of rolling savannah, boulder-strewn hillsides and fig-tree groves, is littered with inconceivably enormous herds of wildebeest, topi and zebra – as well as all the predators that gorge on this movable feast. Cheetah, lion and elephant especially make for fantastic sightings.

This is your time to completely disconnect, there is no wi-fi at camp, and appreciate the nature around you, listen to the birds, and watch the night sly filled with thousands of bright stars.

Day 7

End Of Itinerary

Last breakfast in the bush before the transfer to the Serengeti airstrip.

Fly to Kilimanjaro airport and time at leisure until your flight out, we can organize a day room or some activities depending on your flight times. Alternatively you can extend your stay with a few days on the beach, or a gorilla trekking.
