Get to Know Ballito
Just north of Durban, this small town has all the seaside holiday essentials: a choice of beaches, kid-friendly tidal pools, warm sea and good surf.
Most visitors start their Ballito holiday on Willard Beach, a wide stretch of sand that has attained Blue Flag status. The well-tanned lifeguards, shark nets and warm, foamy waves make Willard a popular choice for swimming or, if you prefer your water wave-free, join the joggers, dog walkers and strollers on the boardwalk that leads down to Ballito’s series of tidal pools.
Bottlenose dolphins are a common sight along this, the well-named Dolphin Coast, so as you walk keep glancing out to sea and chances are you’ll see a pod swimming by close to shore.
